Rosen Sharma, Jay Vaishnav, and Suman Saraf, the company’s CEO and co-founders, created BlueStacks in 2008 in San Francisco, California.

CEO Sharma obtained a Gold Medal from IIT Delhi and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell and Stanford Universities.

He founded his first startup, VxTreme, when he was a student at Stanford. He also sold GreenBorder and Teros to Google and Citrix, respectively, throughout the course of his career.

To further his career, he joined the virtualization division of software security business McAfee in 2010. His co-founders Vaishnav and Saraf, who both worked at the corporation in high positions, met him there.

While working at McAffee, the three started working on BlueStacks. When the initial BlueStacks demo was released in April 2011, it had been in development for almost two years.

As time passed, Android became into the dominant mobile operating system it is today. 630 million Windows devices would be sold worldwide in that year. A confluence of Windows’ ubiquity and Android’s rapid development made it an attractive target for acquisition.
